Daechang!! Spicy beef intestines is one of my favorite items to order at Korean BBQ Restaurants. O’Food (https://ofoodusa.com) has these super convenient, delicious, frozen packs of daechang which is the perfect addition to your at-home Korean barbecue nights.

What is Daechang?

Daechang is the Korean term for “beef large intestines”. It is a popular protein for Korean barbecue. It has a juicy, chewy consistency and can be grilled to reveal its fatty layers. It can be marinated in a soy based sauce, or a spicy, peppery sauce. It’s usually paired to small beef intestines, or “gopchang” in Korean. Although it is not your everyday protein, it is definitely worth a try!

  • This pack also contained carrots and jalapeรฑos.
  • In the freezer section, you could also find different variations, such as Combo Stir-Fry (Large and Small Intestines), Gopchang (Small Beef Intestines)
  • These packs can be a bit pricey, going for about $13 each.

Honest Review/Thoughts

This was such a flavor bomb! It was crispy on the outside and quite spicy! The carrots and jalapeรฑos were a good addition to the dish and helps cut through the fattiness. Beef Intestines are notoriously known for tasting gamey, and a bit dirty – this pack did not taste that way at all! It was very clean tasting, which is a big plus! Serve over rice, or in a ssam (wrap). I would purchase a million times over for all my at-home KBBQ nights, and you should too!!
