Honest Review/Thoughts

As a Filipino American, canned foods have a soft spot in my heart. As I get older, Iโ€™ve become more interested in finding canned foods that are popular in other countries. I was excited to try this canned tuna because of the โ€œDouble Hotโ€ aspect, and it totally delivered!

To this can, I actually added some aromatics to give the dish more freshness – garlic, kimchi, and thai chillies. The tuna itself was meaty, flaky and tender. It soaked up the punchy, tangy, spicy sauce, which is gochugaru and tomato based – an umami bomb! I loved the addition of the carrots, potatoes and onions since it added an addictive sweetness to the whole dish. The spiciness wasnโ€™t overpowering at all, but it definitely lingered – in a good way! Truthfully, I liked this dish way betterย  than the Sajo Red Pepper Canned Tuna (reviewed here). Over rice, this canned tuna is absolutely delicious and ultimately satisfying – especially if youโ€™re in need of something quick, easy and cheap! I could also see this being amazing in a gimbap!
